Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 September 2026
1. The short version
LinkifyThis gives you a short link — linkifythis.com/ABC — and a page behind it. You put your links on that page. Anyone can visit it.
Your page is yours, and so is the blame. Everything on your page, and everything your links lead to, is your responsibility. Not ours.
There are hard rules. Section 6 lists what you may never post or link to. Breaking those rules ends your account.
We can switch off any page, link, or account at any time, for any reason, without warning. See Section 13.
The rest of this document explains all of it in full. It is a legal agreement, so please read it.
2. Agreeing to these Terms
By creating an account, claiming a code, or using LinkifyThis in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use LinkifyThis for a company, club, or anyone other than yourself, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms on their behalf, and "you" means both you and them.
3. Who may use LinkifyThis
- You must be at least 16 years old to have an account.
- You must be at least 18 years old to buy anything — a paid plan or a custom code. This is a requirement from our payment provider, not a preference of ours.
- We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. Giving a false date of birth is a breach of these Terms, and we may close your account for it.
- You must not be barred from using the Service under the laws that apply to you.
- If we have closed your account before, you may not open a new one without our written permission.
4. What the Service is
LinkifyThis is a hosting service. We give you a short page code assigned from our pool, a page at that code, an editor with blocks — links, text, a logo, a socials bar, and embeds from third-party platforms — and basic counts of page views and link clicks if your plan includes analytics.
We decide what the Service does. We may add, change, or remove features, plans, limits, blocks, themes, and page codes at any time. We may also stop offering the Service entirely.
We are not a publisher. No person checks, approves, endorses, or reviews pages before they go live, or reviews the sites your links point to. We do run automatic checks on links, described in Section 8, but they are not a review. A page existing on LinkifyThis says nothing about whether we agree with it or think it is safe.
5. Your page code
Your code is licensed to you, not sold to you — even a code you paid for. You get the right to use it while your account is open and in good standing. You do not own it.
- If you delete a page that has had visitors, its code from the free pool is kept out of use for 12 months before anyone else can be given it, so a video or flyer that mentions it cannot quickly lead somewhere new. A code whose page never had a visitor returns to the pool straight away.
- If you buy a code for a page, the free code it replaces follows the same rule.
- If you delete a page, a code you bought stays yours, and you can put it on another page. A bought code is never returned to the pool.
- When your account is closed, every code on it that has had visitors, and every code you bought, is kept out of use for 12 months before it can be given to or bought by anyone else.
- Some words are reserved and cannot be taken.
- Buying a code does not give you any trademark or brand rights in it. If someone shows us they hold the trademark for a name you took, we may take the code back.
- We may change or take back any code where it is being used to impersonate, mislead, or infringe rights, or where we are required to.
Custom codes are a one-off purchase. Refunds are covered in Section 10.
6. What you must never post or link to
This section is the heart of these Terms. It applies to everything on your page and everything your links lead to, at any depth — including a redirect chain, a file download, or a page that changes after you posted it.
You must never upload, post, host, embed, or link to:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or anything sexualising a minor. Any content that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child, in any form — image, video, drawing, text, or a link to it. There is no warning and no appeal for this. We will terminate the account immediately, preserve what we hold, and report it to the relevant law enforcement authorities and hotlines.
- Sexual and adult content hosted by us. You must not upload, post, or store sexually explicit or pornographic material on LinkifyThis — not as an image, not as text, not as a page title or link title, not in any block, now or in future. There is no setting that permits it. If you want to publish adult material, host it somewhere built for it and link to it. See Section 7.
- Malware and hostile code. Viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware, keyloggers, cryptominers, exploit kits, or any file or script meant to damage, disable, or take control of a device or account.
- Phishing, scams, and fraud. Fake login pages, fake shops, fake giveaways, impersonation of a bank, brand, or platform, investment or crypto scams, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, romance scams, or anything designed to trick people into handing over money, credentials, or personal data.
- Pirated and infringing material. Films, music, software, games, books, courses, streams, cracks, keygens, licence keys, or any content you do not hold the rights to — and any link, torrent, or mirror leading to it. This includes tools whose main purpose is to break copy protection.
- Hate speech. Content that attacks, degrades, dehumanises, or incites hatred or violence against people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease. This includes hateful symbols, slurs, and glorifying anyone who committed a hate-motivated attack.
- Anything illegal. Content or activity that breaks any law that applies to you or to us. Including: selling drugs, weapons, explosives, stolen goods, stolen data, or counterfeit items; human trafficking; child labour; unlicensed gambling; unlicensed medicines; forged documents or identities.
- Violence and extremism. Terrorist or violent extremist content, recruitment or propaganda for such groups, credible threats, incitement to violence, glorification of mass violence, or instructions for making weapons or explosives.
- Content that harms people. Harassment, bullying, stalking, doxxing, revenge porn or any intimate image shared without consent, and content encouraging suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders.
- Impersonation and deception. Pretending to be another person, brand, or organisation. Using someone else's name, photo, or logo to mislead. Hiding where a link really goes, whether by disguised characters, lookalike domains, cloaking, or redirect chains.
- Spam and abuse of the Service. Bulk automated signups, link farms, SEO manipulation, buying or selling accounts or codes, faking clicks or views, or scraping the Service.
- Attacks on our systems. Probing, scanning, overloading, or breaking into any part of LinkifyThis or our providers. Getting round rate limits, plan limits, or the age gate. Reverse-engineering the Service other than where the law expressly allows it.
- Unmarked adult links. If any link on your page leads to adult material, you must switch on the 18+ setting for that page. Leaving it off is a breach.
We may add to this list at any time. If something is not listed but is obviously harmful, assume it is not allowed.
7. Links to adult content
LinkifyThis does not host adult content. Nothing sexually explicit may be uploaded to us, in any block or field. See Section 6.
You may link to adult content, as long as it is legal where it is hosted and legal where you are, and as long as you mark the page.
If any link on your page leads to adult material, switch on the 18+ setting for that page. Visitors then see a warning and must confirm they are 18 or over before the page loads. Anyone who declines is sent away without seeing it.
- Only account holders aged 18 or over can switch this on.
- The warning is a self-declaration, not verification. It does not check anybody's age and does not claim to.
- Marking a page 18+ does not make anything in Section 6 acceptable. Illegal material stays illegal whether or not it is behind a warning, and links to it are a breach whether or not you flagged the page.
- The destination is your responsibility. The site you link to carries its own legal duties — age verification, record-keeping, and everything else. You must satisfy yourself it meets them. We do not check, and linking through us gives you no cover.
- You must comply with every law that applies where you are and where your visitors are.
We may remove any adult link, unmark or re-mark any page, or close any account under this section, at our discretion and without notice.
8. You are responsible for your links
You accept full responsibility and full liability for every link on your page and for everything those links lead to.
- You are the publisher. For every purpose — legal, moral, and practical — the content on your page and at the end of your links is published by you, not by us.
- You checked it. You confirm you have the right to post each link, that you know where it goes, and that it does not break Section 6.
- It stays your problem after you post it. If a destination changes, expires, gets taken over, or starts serving something harmful, that is still your responsibility. You must keep your page correct, and remove links that are no longer safe.
- Claims come to you. If anyone brings a complaint, claim, demand, or legal action about your page or your links — from a rights holder, a person you named, a regulator, a platform, or a visitor — you deal with it and you pay for it.
- We are not a party to your dealings. Anything a visitor does with a third-party site they reached from your page is between them, that site, and you.
We run automatic checks on links. We refuse addresses that hide their real destination, and link shorteners that would hide it behind a second address. We refuse destinations we have blocked. We check links against lists of sites known to spread malware or run scams, when you add them and again when a visitor follows them, and we block the ones that are listed. We may show visitors a warning that names the destination before they leave LinkifyThis. And we mark outbound links so search engines do not treat them as our endorsement. These checks are limited, best-effort, and prove nothing. A link we accepted is not a link we approved. Do not treat our checks as a substitute for your own.
9. Your content, and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of everything you upload — your links, text, images, and logo.
To run the Service we need your permission to use that content. You grant LinkifyThis a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, resize, reformat, cache, transmit, and publicly display your content, for as long as you keep it on the Service, and only for these purposes:
- showing your page to visitors;
- making backups and keeping the Service running;
- showing previews of your page in our own product and, where you have made your page public, in listings or promotional material about LinkifyThis;
- meeting a legal obligation or handling a report.
This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already in backups or caches, which clear in the ordinary course, and anything we must keep by law. You confirm you have the right to grant this licence for everything you upload.
Uploaded images are public. Images you upload are served from a public address. Anyone with that address can open the image, even if it is not shown on any page. Do not upload anything you need kept private.
10. Plans, payments, and ads
Free and paid plans. What each plan includes — how many pages, which blocks, which themes, whether analytics is included, whether ads are shown — is set out on our pricing page. We may change plans, limits, and prices at any time. A price change to an existing subscription takes effect at your next renewal.
Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, by our payment provider. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel. We do not see or store your card details.
Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next charge; your plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for.
Refunds. If you are a consumer, you can change your mind about a new subscription or a custom code: email support (at) linkifythis (dot) com within 14 days of your first subscription payment, or of buying the code, and we will refund that payment in full. A refunded code is taken back. After those 14 days, payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. No refund is given where an account is closed for breaking these Terms.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may keep your plan active while the payment is retried. If it keeps failing, your account returns to the free plan.
What happens when you drop to a free plan. Pages that use more than the free plan allows are locked, not deleted. A locked page is not shown to visitors. Your content stays, and unlocks again if you upgrade. If you have more pages than the plan allows, we keep the most-visited ones unlocked.
Trials and granted plans. We sometimes grant a paid plan for free — for example through Early Access or a voucher. A granted plan runs for a stated period and then ends. It is a gift, not a purchase, and we may withdraw it at any time.
Vouchers. A voucher works once, only for the email address we sent it to, and only until any date stated on it. It has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred. If you already pay for the plan, a voucher moves your next payment back by the time it covers instead. It does not refund anything already paid.
Ads. On plans that are ad-supported, we show our own or a third-party network's ads on your public page. You do not get a share of that revenue. You must not hide, block, cover, or interfere with those ads, and you must not run your own ads or trackers on your LinkifyThis page.
11. Early Access
While the Service is in Early Access or beta, signup may be by invitation only, features may change, break, or disappear without notice, and data may be reset. We may ask for your feedback, and any feedback you give us we may use freely, with no obligation or payment to you.
Early Access is provided as is, with even fewer promises than Section 15 already makes.
12. Reports and takedowns
Anyone can report a page. There is a report link on every public page. Reports are anonymous — we do not ask reporters for an account or a name.
A report takes the page offline immediately. As soon as a page is reported, it stops being shown to visitors, before any human has looked at it. This is deliberate: we would rather take a good page down for a day than leave a harmful one up for a day.
If your page is taken down, we email the address on your account with the reason given. Your content, your page, and your code are not deleted. You can reply to that email to ask us to look again, and we will put the page back if the report was wrong. We do not promise a timescale.
We limit how often the same person can report the same page, and we may ignore reports we believe are made in bad faith. Deliberately filing false reports is itself a breach of these Terms.
Copyright complaints. If you believe content on LinkifyThis infringes your copyright, email copyright (at) linkifythis (dot) com with: what work is infringed, the exact page address, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement that the information is accurate and you are authorised to act for the rights holder. We remove infringing material and terminate repeat infringers.
Other illegal content. To report anything else illegal, email report (at) linkifythis (dot) com. Tell us the page address, what is wrong, and why you think it is illegal. We will tell you what we decided and why, and how to challenge it, where we are required to.
13. Our right to remove and terminate
We may remove any link, block, image, page, or code, and suspend or terminate any account, at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice, and without any liability to you.
That includes, but is in no way limited to:
- a report, whether or not it turns out to be right;
- a breach, or a suspected breach, of these Terms;
- a legal demand, court order, or request from an authority;
- a complaint from a rights holder, a regulator, a payment provider, or a hosting provider;
- risk to other users, to visitors, to us, or to our providers;
- non-payment;
- an account that has been inactive for a long time;
- our own commercial or operational judgement.
We are not obliged to give you a reason, to give you notice, to give you a copy of your content, or to hold your code. We are not obliged to give you a chance to fix it first, though we often will. No refund is due on termination for breach.
When your account ends, your right to use the Service stops immediately. Your pages stop being shown, your content may be deleted, and your codes are not reissued to anyone else for 12 months.
You may close your account yourself at any time from your account settings. This is immediate and cannot be undone. Your pages, content, and analytics are deleted, any subscription is cancelled straight away, and your code is retired rather than passed on. We keep a limited record of payments and of reports, with your personal details removed — see the Privacy Policy.
We may keep and disclose information after termination where the law requires it, or to protect anyone's safety, rights, or property.
14. You will cover our costs
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LinkifyThis, its owners, employees, and suppliers from any claim, demand, loss, damage, fine, penalty, or cost — including reasonable legal fees — arising from:
- your content, your page, and anything you linked to;
- your use of the Service;
- your breach of these Terms or of any law;
- your infringement of anyone's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, and publicity rights.
We may take over the defence of any such claim ourselves, at your cost, and you agree not to settle anything that puts an obligation on us without our written consent. This section survives the end of your account.
15. No warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim every warranty, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We specifically do not promise that:
- the Service will be available, on time, secure, or free of bugs;
- your page, code, or links will keep working;
- any content on the Service, on any page, or at the end of any link is legal, safe, accurate, or fit for anything;
- our link checks, ad filtering, age gate, or moderation will catch anything at all;
- data will not be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.
Some jurisdictions do not allow all of these exclusions. Where that is the case, this section applies as far as it legally can.
16. Limit of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, lost goodwill, lost data, or lost opportunity — even if we were told such losses were possible.
- We are not liable for anything done by another user, by a visitor, by an advertiser, by an embedded platform, or by any site reached through a link.
- We are not liable for a page or account being taken down, whether the report was right or wrong.
- Our total liability to you for everything, taken together, is limited to the greater of (a) what you actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) 50 euro.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded — such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
17. Our intellectual property
LinkifyThis — the name, logo, site, software, design, themes, and everything in it apart from user content — belongs to us and our licensors. Using the Service gives you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use it as intended, and nothing more. Do not copy, resell, frame, or white-label it without our written permission.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms at any time. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Where a change is significant and reduces your rights, we will give reasonable notice by email or in the product before it takes effect.
If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept them, close your account.
19. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Portugal, and the courts of Lisbon, Portugal have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim there.
Before starting formal proceedings, please email support (at) linkifythis (dot) com and give us 30 days to sort it out.
Complaints book. You can record a complaint about the Service in the Portuguese electronic complaints book at livroreclamacoes.pt. It goes to the competent authority directly and does not need our agreement or our involvement.
Alternative dispute resolution. A consumer dispute can be decided by an alternative dispute resolution (RAL) entity instead of a court. We have not signed up to any RAL entity in advance; the residual competent entity for us is the CNIACC — Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo, and the full register of authorised entities is at consumidor.gov.pt. If you are a consumer and the dispute is below the value limit set by Portuguese law, you may require it to be decided by an authorised consumer arbitration centre, and we are required to take part. Using any of these routes never removes your right to go to court.
20. The rest
- Whole agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies, and that part is read down to the narrowest version that works.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your account or these Terms to anyone. We may transfer them to a buyer of our business.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting, payment, or email providers.
- No third-party rights. Nobody other than you and us can enforce these Terms.
- Survival. Sections 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20 survive the end of your account.
